Weather
When was the last time the weather was almost 70 degrees in early March. Now it is only my second year in Slippery Rock but i know last year was know where near 70 at this time. The weather is certainly helping the early baseball season. Last week at our home opener it was in the mid 50's. Last year when we opened up it was in the mid 30's. But the weather is defintiely nice and makes things alot easier, compared to walking and traveling in snow. So lets hope the weather stays nice and we don't have to see cold weather until next winter.

March Madness
March Madness starts tomorrow while we will be in class. But from past experience, this will not keep students from keeping track of the teams that they have picked to move on. This years brackets should even be better then ever. There is no team that is just flat out better then the rest. The pack is pretty even and our home team Pitt has a great chance of taking the title home. So let the games begin, and good luck on everybody's brackets.

Mental preparation is just as important as physical preparation
Many athletes who prepare for their seasons believe that they need to be physically prepared and thats it. They train in the weight room and for their sport and thats it. But the athletes who out perform others are the ones who are also mentally prepared. Being mentally prepared allows you to be prepared for any situation possible. If you prepare for situations mentally before they happen, when the time comes, you will be ready to react.

Basketball fails to make regionals
After a rough loss to rival Kutztown in the semi finals of the Psac playoffs, the Rock basketball team knew they had fallen but thought they would atleast have a chance to redeem themselves. In the regional tournament the top 8 teams qualify for the tournament. The Rock knew it would be close but after beating IUP the past two times they played them, they thougt their chances would be good of making it over them. But when the tournament committee announced the bracket, the Rock was not included and IUP was. The Rock recently beat IUP by 18 points in their last meeting, doesn't make too much sense.

Yoga
When it comes to Yoga, not too many students know much about it. They either think it does nothing for you, or they think it would be embarrassing to do it. I was always one of those people who thought it would be a waste of time to do it. But after recently participating in several classes, i feel it was one of the best things i did during my off season for baseball. Yoga does not only work balance, strength, relax you, but it also helps you mentally. Being mentally prepared is a way to gain an advantage on any competition in any job, sport, or activity. So next time you have the opportunity to try it, GIVE IT A SHOT!
Basketball Makes Playoffs!
For the first time in 10 years the Slippery Rock University Basketball ball team has made the Psac playoffs. Leb by a strong senior class the team has rallied to win their last 6 conference games. This is including an 82-72 win against the #5 team in the nation, Gannon. The team is going to have to keep strong coming to the end of their regular season if they want a chance at the national tournament. People say it takes strong senior leadership for teams to be great and that is something we definitely have. So there good be even better things to come.

Baseball Season Is kicking off this weekend!!!!
This weekend will be opening day for the Slippery Rock baseball team. The baseball team will be traveling to Chillicothe, Ohio to play 5 games. They will be playing Tiffin University, Oakland, University, and Bluefield State. The outcomes of the games will hopefully be in favor of Slippery Rock, but they will not only be competing against the other team but also the rigid weather. The high for the weekend is supposed to be 34 degrees. But although the weather is going to be brutal, there is a good feeling knowing baseball season has started.
